Smoothies are one of the perfect breakfast ideas and random snack that I would advise you not to miss out on. You need something healthy and refreshing at any time of your day? What do you need to make a smoothie?
The ingredients you need for a smoothie depend on your taste and most importantly refreshment aspect you are craving for. For a perfect smoothie you are likely to combine any of the following ingredients and come up with something you love.
Both fresh and frozen fruits are very essential ingredients for a perfect smoothie. Use the fruits of your choice in accordance to what type of refreshment you want to achieve.
Frozen fruits are good because they bring out that frosty texture. Peel your banana or any fruit you will choose, then chop them into sizeable pieces and store them in a fridge to achieve the frozen state. You can use ice in place of frozen fruits although ice tends to water down your smoothie and reduce its texture.
You will definitely need liquid to help in blending the ingredients in your smoothie. For liquid options you can use milk, coconut water or juice. However, I would recommend you use unsweetened liquid so that it does not interfere with how you would want to achieve the taste of your smoothie.
- Creamy Base.
In case you want a smoothie that is creamy enough, then you should try using yogurt. Yogurt is not only creamy but also high in protein. For the sake of vegans, you can use bananas instead of yogurt to achieve the creamy texture.
- Fibrous Foods.
Fibrous foods help to thicken your smoothie. Try using oats and I promise you good results.
Leafy green veggies are ideal ingredients for your smoothie especially for the vegans. Use spinach or kales.
You want to add taste to your smoothie? You will definitely go for a sweetener. Try honey or maple syrup. A sweetening taste to your smoothie will go a long way to psyche you up.
A little fat to your smoothie is not bad. Salt and sugar free nut butter is a good source of fat in your smoothie.

- Add liquid to your blender.
- Then add the fresh fruits followed by the frozen fruits.
- Add the creamy base, oats and nut butter.
- Start your blender on low processing then increase its speed slowly to ensure you come out with as smooth results as possible.
- After blending add your sweetener and flavor
