Marble Cake

A cake containing a blend of two colors and/or two flavors streaked together.

Part 1

Beat butter with sugar, salt, and lemon peel till fluffy then add the egg yolks one at a time beating continuously.

Whip the egg whites with sugar until very stiff.

Combine parts 1 and 2 then fold the flour and baking powder carefully.

Blend the cocoa powder and milk together then mix it with one-third of the first mixture in a separate bowl.

On the baking tin, place half of the remaining "white" mixture at the bottom, then the chocolate mixture and lastly the remaining white mixture.

Slightly streak the three layers to form marbles.

Bake the cake slowly in a medium-hot oven. Preferably 170 degrees celsius.
